Pahinungod CoPES conducts Istoryahan, trains Maramba NHS teachers on PFA

In time for the observance of National Disaster Resilience Month, and the 2020 Brigada Eskwela, the Ugnayan ng Pahinungód Committee on Psychosocial Emergency Services (UP CoPES) partnered with Maramba National High School (MNHS) in Oas, Albay for an Online Istoryahan and Training on Psychological First Aid, July 7-27, 2020 via Zoom Video Conferencing Application.


Assoc. Prof. Marshaley Baquiano, PhD and Asst. Prof. Bernice Vania Landoy Mamauag from the University of the Philippines Visayas generously shared their time and expertise as volunteer resource speakers and facilitators for this activity. Joining them are eight Pahinungód volunteers, 6 of which are alumni and 2 faculty members from thevarious UP campuses who served as Istoryahan facilitators (PFA providers).

This webinar series aims to strengthen the provision of mental health and psychosocial support in MNHS; promote mental health awareness as a relevant tool in working productively; and strengthen the capacity of the teachers to provide basic psychological first aid to their students and colleagues.

The UP CoPES is a systemwide program of the Ugnayan ng Pahinungód/Oblation Corps, which aims to promote a healthy psychosocial well-being through volunteer opportunities to UP community; and through strengthening the capacities of partner communities, especially during emergency situations.
